Over Rs 6 crore in cash, Rs 5.7 crore of it in new Rs 2000 currency notes, Rs 70 lakh in old demonetised notes, 7 kg bullion, 9 kg jewellery both together valued at Rs 5 crore. All these were found by the Income Tax department in the raids they conducted in Bengaluru over 3 days.
The raids conducted on 2 state government employees and 2 of their contractors also led the IT sleuths to high end luxury cars. The total admission of unaccounted income of this group stand at a staggering Rs 152 crore.
IT officials claim that the investigations are still ongoing and a clear picture will emerge after they evaluate property documents that were found in the residences of 2 such officials during the raids. All this with just 2 government engineers and 2 contractors.
