The Haryana Railway Police has arrested the prime accused in the Junaid murder case on Saturday.

According to police, the accused, who was nabbed from Sakri in Dhule district of Maharashtra, has confessed to have stabbed Junaid. The accused’s identify is not revealed. He is likely to be produced in a court in Faridabad on Sunday.

On Tuesday, the Haryana Railway Police had announced a reward of Rs. 2 lakh for any information leading to his arrest.

Last month, the family of another accused, Ramesh, claimed that he was innocent and was being framed by the police in their hurry to solve the case.

Fifteen-year-old Junaid was stabbed to death while his brothers Hasib and Shakir were abused and beaten by a mob between Okhla and Ballabgarh railway stations on June 23.

The scuffle had escalated at Ballabgarh when Junaid’s brother Shakir and his two friends had got onto the train. The prime accused allegedly jumped off the coach after stabbing Junaid and his two brothers when the train halted at Asaoti railway station.
