LG G5
LG announced its new flagship, the LG G5 at a pre-MWC event earlier this year. It is a Snapdragon 820 powered smartphone and comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage, which can be further expanded using a microSD card slot. While the phone has an all metal unibody design, LG has made it modular and the battery can be removed or replaced. It has a dual-camera setup on the back, sporting 16MP+8MP cameras. On the front there is an 8MP camera. The device uses a 5.3-inch LCD display, which has 2560 x 1440p resolution.
Xiaomi Mi 5
Announced at MWC this year, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is coming to India in April. The phone features a 5.15-inch display, with 1920 x 1080p resolution. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC and will be available in two variants — Xiaomi Mi 5 and Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro. The former will be available in 32GB and 64GB storage options along with 3GB of RAM, while the Pro variant will sport 128GB of storage and 4GB of DDR4 RAM. All variants use a 16MP rear camera made by Sony and there is a 4MP ultrapixel camera on the front. The device will be running on Android 6.0 Lollipop out of the box.
HP Elite X3
After almost half a decade, HP has come up with a Windows phone, and a mighty powerful one. The HP Elite x3 announced at MWC 2016 comes with a large 5.96-inch display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. The phone uses 4GB of RAM and offers 64GB of on-board storage and adds support for microSD cards. There is a 16MP camera at the back and it has an 8MP camera on the front. The device packs a 4150mAh battery. It runs on Windows 10, and supports Microsoft’s Continuum.
HTC One X9
HTC is expected to bring the One X9 smartphone in India soon. The device is likely to be priced in the upper mid range. The phone has a 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 1080p resolution. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 SoC. This is the same SoC that HTC used in its last year’s flagship smartphone. There is 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. The storage can be further expanded upon using a microSD card. At the back, it has a 13MP camera and there’s a 5MP camera on the front. The device will sport a 3000mAh battery and will be running on Android 6.0 out of the box.
Sony Xperia X Performance
Sony is phasing out the Z lineup this year and the new X lineup takes its place on the helm of the company’s portfolio. The Xperia X Performance is at the forefront of this lineup, with its top of the line specifications. The new phone features a 5-inch display with a 1080p resolution. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, which is being used by other flagship phones as well. There is 3GB of RAM and the phone will be available in 32GB and 64GB variants. In the camera department Sony has introduced a 23MP camera at the rear and a 13MP rear at the front.
Sony Xperia XA
The second phone from Sony that we are expecting is the Xperia XA. This phone is expected to fall in the upper mid-tier of the smartphone market. The phone features an edge to edge 5-inch display with a 1280 x 720p resolution. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P10 SoC. It has 16GB internal storage and 2GB of RAM. On top of that the phone support a microSD card. At the back, there is a 13MP camera and at the front it sports a 8MP camera. Out of the box, the phone is running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Lenovo K5 Plus
Lenovo will be bringing its K5 Plus smartphone to India shortly. The phone was announced at MWC 2016, and features a 5-inch display with 1080p resolution. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC, the device also packs 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. The phone supports microSD cards, in case extra storage is required. At the rear, the phone has a 13MP camera, and at the front, it has an 8MP camera. Unfortunately, Lenovo has not updated the software yet, and it is still running on Android Lollipop.
Gionee S8
Gionee recently announced a new phone in its S range, the S8, and we expect the phone to come to India within a few months. It is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P10 SoC, along with 4GB of RAM. There is a 5.5-inch, 1080p display on the phone. The phone has 64GB of on-board storage, and supports microSD cards for extra storage. On the camera front, it has a 16MP camera at the rear, and an 8MP camera on the front. The Gionee S8 runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.
Zopo Speed 8
Zopo also announced a new phone at MWC 2016, the Zopo Speed 8. It is the first phone to be powered by MediaTek’s Helio X20 SoC. It houses a 5.5-inch 1080p display, with similar design to the Zopo Speed 7 Plus. The phone has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. However, it does not support microSD cards. There is a 21MP camera at the rear and an 8MP camera in front. The device packs a 3600mAh battery, and comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
