Befikre box office collection Day 5: Ranveer-Vaani's film is a hit on Monday

Befikre, starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, has had a decent Monday at the box office in India. The Aditya Chopra film has earned Rs 39.63 crore in 4 days of release.
Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor's latest box-office outing, Befikre, is going strong at the ticket windows. The film has completed four days at the box office in India, and has already collected Rs 39.63 crore. On its first Monday at the box office, the Aditya Chopra-directed Befikre earned an amount of Rs 5.2 crore.

Befikre opened to lukewarm reviews from critics, but has been seeing considerable footfall in theatres ever since the film hit the screens. Here is the detailed box-office break-up of the domestic collection of Befikre till now:

December 10, Saturday (Day 2): Rs 11.6 crore
December 11, Sunday (Day 3): Rs 12.4 crore
December 12, Monday (Day 4): Rs 5.2 crore
Total collection (4 days): Rs 39.63 crore

Befikre, which was touted as a modern love story by director Aditya Chopra, had raised several eyebrows in surprise when the first trailer of the film hit the web. People were quite amazed, some shocked, to see the carefree kissing and making out from Ranveer and Vaani on the streets of Paris in the trailer.

Aditya Chopra, known for his 'clean, for-the-family' romantic dramas, threw several people off gear with his lead actors kissing without inhibition in the trailer of Befikre. And to a certain extent, that surprise factor is instrumental in Befikre being able to pull people to the theatres despite many negative reviews.

In Befikre, Chopra has attempted to tell the story of a new-age couple, Dharam (Ranveer) and Shyra (Vaani), who meet in Paris, are attracted to each other, move in together, but keep carefully away from uttering the words 'I love you'.

Aditya Chopra was last seen behind the camera in the 2008 film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi with Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma. Befikre is the first film where Aditya Chopra chose a lead actor other than Shah Rukh Khan.

Ranveer Singh's last film, Bajirao Mastani, had raked in Rs 10.25 crore on its first Monday at the box office. Befikre is just about half that amount.

Befikre is expected to cross the Rs 50-crore mark in India in its first week itself. The film was released in about 2,100 screens.
