India Vs England, 4th Test: India win by an innings and 36 runs, clinch series 3-0

Mumbai, Dec 12: India on Monday (December 12) defeated England by an innings and 36 runs to win the fourth Test match against England here at Wankhede Stadium.

At the start of the fifth and final day's play, India needed four more wickets to win which the the hosts wrapped within 40 minutes on the final day. 
India's strike bowler Ravichandran Ashwin removed all the remaining four wickets on the fifth day to hand England a humiliating defeat and help hosts regain the Anthony De Mello Trophy.


Ashwin grabbed another fifer in the second innings to surpass Kapil Dev's 23-five-wicket haul.  

Earlier on Sunday, England were on the brink of defeat, after they were reduced to 182/6 in their second innings and trailed by 49 runs, at stumps on the fourth day on Sunday. 

England skipper Alastair Cook (18), debutant and first innings centurion Keaton Jennings (0), Moeen Ali (0), Joe Root (77), Ben Stokes (18) and Jake Ball (2) were dismissed -- five by Indian spinners. Jonny Bairstow was unbeaten on 50. 

England posted 400 in their first innings. In response India scored 631 in their first innings.
